Creating Your Moodboard
Creating a mood board is all about shaping the feel and vision for your photos when we create them. It helps us align with you visually and artistically. Let’s discuss creating your moodboard.
What is a moodboard?
A moodboard is where you share inspiration for your engagement or wedding photos and showcase what you love most about CM Photography. Sometimes it’s hard to describe what you’re envisioning with words. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Adding images to the moodboard helps you visually communicate your style preferences with me.
There are a multitude of things you may like about a certain image: the pose, the lighting, the color, the emotion. This moodboard helps throughout the entire process, from planning all the way through editing the images.
Moodboard vs Shot List
Do not think of this as a shot list. A shot list is more of a ‘paint-by-numbers’ type of photography that I strive to avoid, as it can inhibit creativity and originality.
How to Create a Moodboard for Photography
Okay, so how do you create this dang thing? Here is a little walkthrough to help you through the process. If you’re a Pinterest aficionado this will definitely seem like common sense to you.
Create or sign into your Pinterest account.
Create a new board called “Wedding Vision”. Also ensure it’s public so you can share!
Visit my website and pin images that you like. You’ll notice that when you click or hover over images the Pinterest logo appears. Click this to pin the image. Feel free to browse blogs, portfolio pages, etc to find images you really enjoy.
You may add photos from other sources, but if you choose to do so, please limit it to just a handful.
Write a quick description of what you like about the photo (ie lighting, pose, composition, location, etc.)
Once complete, send the Moodboard URL to me via email. We will go over your mood board during our final call (1-2 weeks before your wedding).
