Expecting Baby Number One - A Studio Maternity Session in Denver

Bringing new life into this world is a pretty big deal, so when someone reaches out to me for a maternity photo session it’s a lot of responsibility. But it’s also extremely rewarding when you see the results. 

Being a dad myself, it’s extremely intriguing to see others go through the same process of becoming a parent. To some, a maternity photo session may seem like a huge load on the shoulders, but when a joyful couple like Aleah & Doug come into the studio, the session goes so smoothly that you don’t even notice the time fly by.

Aleah & Doug were both glowing with love for each other and their unborn son. It’s obvious they are pretty eager for the little guy to be out in the world already. The happy couple sent me some examples of the kind of vibe they wanted to go for with the session, so we had a great baseline for tailoring the session to their desires. Aleah’s baby bump couldn’t have looked cuter. And can we give these guys two thumbs up for their maternity fashion choices? They killed it on all fronts.

Since they aren’t from Denver, I made sure to find a great studio in the city to capture the pregnancy photos. A maternity session in the studio is always fun; you get to introduce some fun setups that create flattering light to really bring the session to life. If Aleah & Doug were nervous coming into the photoshoot, it wasn’t obvious at all as the maternity poses I threw at them seemed to come naturally to them. 

We flew through a couple of backdrop variations and were about to go when I luckily remembered a shot I had envisioned that I just had to capture to top the session off with a nice bow. That’s where the silhouette shot came in, and frankly, it might be my favorite from the whole session (but honestly, who could choose a favorite from an amazing photoshoot like this?)

Being the dude behind the camera for this maternity shoot was an honor, and I can’t wait to deliver the full gallery to Doug & Aleah. We got some really great images that I hope will be an amazing step along their parenting journey.
